Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve the character of sixth-grade students at MIS Islamiyah Kauman Ngoro through the application of the interactive discussion method in the ethics lessons. The study involved 20 students and was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Initially, students displayed limited engagement and understanding of ethical values, particularly in real-life situations. The introduction of interactive discussions allowed students to actively participate in exploring ethical principles and how to apply them in their daily lives. By the second cycle, there was a noticeable improvement in student participation, understanding, and the ability to demonstrate good character traits such as respect, honesty, and responsibility. The interactive discussions also encouraged students to listen to each other, express opinions respectfully, and reflect on their behaviors. The research concludes that the interactive discussion method significantly enhances students' understanding of ethical values and positively impacts their character development. The method is effective in fostering a more engaging and reflective learning environment, making it an ideal approach for character education in Islamic schools.
