Abstract
This classroom action research aims to improve the character of sixth-grade students at SD Negeri 002 Pendalian IV Koto through the implementation of the interactive discussion method in the teaching of Akhlak Terpuji (Virtuous Ethics). The study involved 20 students and was carried out in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. In the first cycle, students showed limited engagement with the topic of virtuous behavior, but through interactive discussions, they were able to actively share their thoughts and experiences. By the second cycle, students demonstrated significant improvement in their understanding and practice of Islamic virtues such as honesty, respect, and responsibility. The discussion method helped students apply these virtues in real-life situations, and they showed a more positive attitude towards interacting with their peers and teachers. The research concludes that interactive discussions are an effective method to enhance students' understanding of moral values and improve their character development. This method promotes active participation, critical thinking, and a deeper connection between ethical teachings and everyday actions, making it an excellent approach for character education in elementary schools.
