Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve students’ understanding and engagement in Wudhu (ablution) practice through the integration of Augmented Reality (AR) in Islamic education. The study was conducted in Class III at MIS Guppi Citiusari with a total of 18 students. Preliminary observations revealed that students often found the steps of Wudhu difficult to remember and lacked interest in the subject when taught through conventional methods. To address this issue, an AR-based learning application was utilized to visually demonstrate each step of Wudhu, allowing students to interact with 3D animations in real time. The research followed the Kemmis and McTaggart action research model across two cycles. Data were collected using observation, student interviews, performance assessments, and documentation. The results showed a significant increase in both students’ enthusiasm and practical understanding of Wudhu. Students demonstrated greater confidence and accuracy during practice, indicating that AR technology effectively enhances visual learning and motivation. This study suggests that AR is a promising tool for delivering abstract or procedural Islamic content in a more interactive and memorable way. The use of AR is recommended for broader application in Islamic practice-based subjects at the elementary level.
