Abstract

This study explores the use of the Islamic Kamishibai storytelling method to enhance the religious vocabulary of young children at RA Itama. The research involved 20 students and aimed to assess the effectiveness of Kamishibai, a traditional Japanese storytelling technique that uses illustrated boards, in teaching religious terms and concepts in an engaging and interactive way. The objective was to provide a creative and effective approach to increase the children's understanding of religious vocabulary through visual and auditory storytelling. During the study, Islamic stories featuring key religious vocabulary were presented using Kamishibai, allowing students to learn and repeat words associated with Islamic teachings. Results indicated that the Kamishibai storytelling method significantly improved the children's retention and use of religious vocabulary. Students showed a better understanding of terms related to daily Islamic practices, such as prayers, faith, and other basic religious concepts. This method also promoted active participation and enhanced memory retention by combining visual stimulation with narrative. The study concludes that Kamishibai is an effective and enjoyable method for teaching religious vocabulary to young children, making learning both fun and meaningful.
