Abstract
This study explores the implementation of project-based learning (PBL) to enhance students' understanding of the water cycle concept in the IPAS (Integrated Science and Social Studies) curriculum at MIS Bhakti, Kota Padang. The aim of this research is to assess whether hands-on experiments related to the water cycle can improve fifth-grade students' understanding of scientific concepts. During the study, students participated in a series of water cycle experiments, including evaporation, condensation, and precipitation, followed by a project in which they presented their findings. The results revealed a significant improvement in students' comprehension of the water cycle and their ability to explain the process in detail. The use of project-based learning encouraged active participation and critical thinking, as students were engaged in both the practical application of the concepts and the collaborative nature of the project. This study concludes that PBL, especially when combined with hands-on experiments, is an effective approach to improving students' understanding of complex scientific concepts in the IPAS curriculum, fostering both academic skills and teamwork.
