Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) study aims to explore the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in improving students' narrative writing skills at MI Tarbiyyatul Arifin. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The primary objective is to determine whether the PBL method can enhance students' ability to write compelling narrative texts by engaging them in real-world projects that require them to apply their writing skills. During the project, students were tasked with creating a story based on a specific theme, which was then written and presented as a narrative text. Data were collected through pre- and post-assessments, classroom observations, and student reflections. The findings indicate that the PBL method significantly improved students' narrative writing skills, as evidenced by higher post-test scores compared to pre-test results. Additionally, students showed increased engagement, creativity, and confidence in their writing. This study concludes that Project-Based Learning is an effective approach to enhance narrative writing skills, as it encourages active learning and provides students with opportunities to apply their skills in meaningful contexts. The results suggest that PBL can be a valuable method for teaching writing in elementary school settings.
