Abstract
This study aims to examine the effectiveness of group discussion methods in enhancing students' understanding of authentic Hadiths (Hadis Shahih) at SMAN 2 Koto XI Tarusan. Understanding the Hadiths, which are the sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad, is essential for students to deepen their knowledge of Islamic teachings. Traditional teaching methods often fail to engage students actively, making it difficult for them to fully grasp the meanings and context of the Hadiths. This research applies a qualitative approach, utilizing pre- and post-discussion tests to assess students' comprehension before and after participating in group discussions. The study also includes interviews with teachers to gather insights into the implementation of the group discussion method. The findings suggest that group discussions significantly improve students' understanding of Hadiths, as students actively participate in the process, exchanging ideas and clarifying meanings. Additionally, students were more motivated to learn and felt more confident in discussing Hadiths after participating in the discussions. The research concludes that the group discussion method is an effective and engaging way to teach Hadiths, making it a valuable pedagogical tool for Islamic education in high schools.
