Abstract
This study aims to explore the application of mindfulness techniques to improve discipline and Islamic character in students at SMPN 2 Siberut Tengah. Discipline and good character are essential aspects of students' personal and academic development, and Islamic teachings emphasize the importance of cultivating these traits. However, many students struggle with maintaining focus, self-control, and demonstrating positive behavior. Mindfulness, as a mental training technique, has shown promise in enhancing students' emotional regulation, attention, and self-awareness. This research uses a mixed-method approach, combining pre- and post-assessments of students' discipline and character, along with interviews and observations. The mindfulness program applied in this study includes techniques such as focused breathing, meditation, and self-reflection, integrated with Islamic values. Preliminary results show that mindfulness practices have a positive impact on students' behavior, improving their discipline and reinforcing Islamic moral values such as patience, respect, and responsibility. Students reported feeling more focused, calm, and able to manage their emotions better, which translated into more disciplined behavior. This study concludes that the integration of mindfulness techniques into Islamic character education is an effective approach to fostering discipline and enhancing Islamic values among middle school students
