Abstract
This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to enhance students' understanding of the Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) subjects at MIN 1 Pasaman Barat through the implementation of the Inquiry-Based Learning model. The study was conducted due to the observed challenge that students had difficulty in grasping complex concepts in IPAS and lacked engagement in traditional teaching methods. The Inquiry-Based Learning model was chosen to provide students with opportunities to actively explore and investigate concepts through questioning, research, and problem-solving. The research was carried out in two cycles, involving pre-test and post-test assessments to measure the improvement in students' conceptual understanding. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in students' comprehension and critical thinking skills, as evidenced by the higher post-test scores compared to the pre-test. Moreover, students showed increased enthusiasm and participation in learning activities. This study suggests that Inquiry-Based Learning is an effective pedagogical approach to promote deeper understanding, enhance student engagement, and foster an active learning environment in IPAS education. Based on the findings, it is recommended that MIN 1 Pasaman Barat continue to integrate Inquiry-Based Learning to further improve learning outcomes in IPAS.
