Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students' understanding of Aqidah Akhlak (Islamic Creed and Morality) by implementing an active problem-based learning model in the PAI (Pendidikan Agama Islam) subject at UPT SMP Negeri 1 Linggo Sari Baganti. The study is based on the observation that students face difficulties in grasping the concepts of Aqidah Akhlak, often leading to a lack of engagement and comprehension. By employing a problem-based learning (PBL) model, this research focuses on creating real-world problems that encourage students to actively participate in discussions, critically analyze, and apply their religious knowledge in practical situations. This study involved a group of seventh-grade students in the 2024 academic year, and data were collected through observations, interviews, and student performance assessments. The results showed an improvement in students' understanding, engagement, and ability to apply the principles of Aqidah Akhlak in their daily lives. This research suggests that PBL can be an effective model to enhance the teaching and learning of PAI, fostering a deeper connection to the subject matter.
