Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aimed to enhance student engagement in Islamic Education (PAI) at TK Pertiwi Lakitan through the implementation of role-playing methods. The research was motivated by the need to improve students’ active participation and understanding of Islamic values at an early age. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. In the first cycle, the teacher introduced role-playing activities based on Islamic stories, encouraging students to actively participate and internalize the moral lessons. In the second cycle, more complex scenarios and group activities were introduced to further enhance engagement and social interaction. Data was collected through observations, interviews with teachers, and student assessments to measure their involvement and understanding. The results showed a significant increase in students’ enthusiasm and understanding of Islamic teachings, as well as improved social skills such as teamwork and empathy. The study concluded that role-playing is an effective and innovative method to engage young learners in Islamic Education, providing a fun and meaningful learning experience for early childhood education.
