Abstract
This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students' problem-solving skills in Mathematics at MIN 1 Pasaman through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The PBL model was applied to engage students in real-world problems, encouraging them to work collaboratively, think critically, and apply mathematical concepts in problem-solving. The research involved 30 fifth-grade students, and data were collected through pre-and post-tests, classroom observations, and student feedback. The results indicated a significant improvement in students' ability to solve mathematical problems, as reflected in their post-test scores and increased participation during lessons. Furthermore, students showed greater enthusiasm and confidence in tackling challenging mathematical tasks. The findings suggest that PBL not only enhances students’ problem-solving skills but also fosters a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. This research demonstrates that by integrating active learning strategies such as PBL, students can develop both their academic and critical thinking abilities in Mathematics.
