Abstract
This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students' understanding of Aqidah Akhlak in the PAI (Pendidikan Agama Islam) subject at SMPN 1 V Koto Kampung Dalam through the implementation of an Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning model. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The AR-based model was incorporated to create interactive learning experiences, allowing students to visualize abstract concepts of moral values in a more engaging and relatable way. The research involved 30 students from the 8th grade, and data were collected through pre- and post-tests, classroom observations, and student feedback. The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ comprehension and engagement. Post-test scores showed a higher understanding of Aqidah Akhlak, and students expressed more interest and participation during lessons that incorporated AR. This suggests that integrating AR technology into Islamic education can help students better understand complex moral concepts, enhance their motivation to learn, and make religious education more meaningful. The study highlights the potential of AR as an innovative tool for improving the quality of PAI teaching and learning in junior high school settings.
