Abstract
This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students'
understanding of Akidah Akhlak at MTsN 2 Kepulauan Meranti through
the application of group discussion methods. The research was conducted
in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and
reflection phases. The research subjects were 30 students from grade VII,
enrolled in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). The goal of this study is to
engage students actively in learning activities and to enhance their
comprehension of Islamic faith (Akidah) and morals (Akhlak). Group
discussions were utilized as an approach to encourage students to share
ideas, discuss concepts, and relate Islamic teachings to real-life situations.
Data were collected through observations, questionnaires, and interviews.
The findings revealed a significant increase in students' participation,
critical thinking skills, and understanding of Akidah Akhlak concepts. This
research demonstrates that the use of collaborative learning strategies like
group discussions can effectively enhance students' knowledge and
application of Islamic values, making the learning process more interactive
and engaging. The study highlights the importance of active learning
methods in Islamic education and provides a model for improving the
teaching of Akidah Akhlak in Islamic schools.
