Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to apply group-based
techniques to enhance students' discussion skills regarding Islamic values
at SDN 13 Tanjung Sani. The study was conducted over two cycles, each
consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research
involved 5th-grade students and focused on improving their ability to
engage in meaningful discussions about Islamic values, such as honesty,
kindness, and responsibility. Data were collected through classroom
observations, student reflections, and teacher evaluations. The results
showed that group-based techniques effectively fostered active
participation among students. By working in groups, students had the
opportunity to share ideas, ask questions, and listen to different
perspectives, which led to an increase in their ability to discuss Islamic
values in depth. Additionally, the collaborative environment enhanced
students' communication skills and promoted a deeper understanding of the
material. The findings suggest that group discussions are an effective
strategy for developing students' critical thinking and communication
abilities, especially in the context of religious education. Teachers are
encouraged to implement this method to encourage more interactive and
engaging learning experiences in Islamic education.
