Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students' understanding and practice of Islamic teachings through a thematic approach in the teaching of Islamic Education (PAI) at SD Negeri 35 Pasar Durian. The research addresses the challenge of students' limited understanding of Islamic values, often separated from their everyday experiences. The thematic approach was chosen to integrate various Islamic concepts into real-life contexts, making them more relevant and easier to apply. The study was conducted in two cycles, each involving planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through student assessments, classroom observations, and interviews with teachers. The findings indicate that the thematic approach significantly enhanced students' engagement, understanding, and ability to apply Islamic teachings in their daily lives. Students demonstrated improved ethical behavior and a deeper connection to the values taught in PAI. This research emphasizes the importance of incorporating thematic, context-based learning in religious education to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
