Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to enhance students' worship skills through a contextual approach in the Islamic Education (PAI) subject at SMP Negeri 4 Lubuk Basung. The study addresses the challenge of students' limited ability to practice worship correctly, despite having theoretical knowledge about Islamic teachings. The contextual approach was chosen to connect religious practices with students' everyday lives, making them more relevant and easier to understand. The study was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observations, student assessments, and interviews with teachers. The findings show that the contextual approach significantly improved students' understanding of Islamic worship and their ability to perform it correctly. Furthermore, students demonstrated increased engagement and motivation during lessons. This research emphasizes the importance of adapting teaching methods to students’ experiences and environments to foster better learning outcomes and the practical application of religious knowledge. It suggests that contextual learning in PAI can help students bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-life practices in Islam
