Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to enhance students' understanding and application of Fiqh through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach in the Islamic Education (PAI) subject at SMPN 2 Patamuan. The research addresses the challenge of students' limited practical understanding of Fiqh, where students often struggle to connect theoretical knowledge with real-life scenarios. The PBL approach was chosen as it encourages active learning by presenting real-world problems, allowing students to engage in critical thinking and collaborate in finding solutions. This study was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observations, student assessments, and teacher interviews. The findings indicate that the PBL approach significantly improved students' comprehension of Fiqh and their ability to apply Islamic teachings in everyday life. Moreover, students became more engaged and motivated in the learning process. This research highlights the effectiveness of using PBL to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in Islamic education, particularly in the context of Fiqh, and suggests that this method can be an effective way to engage students in learning.
