Abstract
This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students' understanding and skills in calculating zakat through contextual learning in the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subject at SMPN 1 Enam Lingkung. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The primary focus is to explore how contextual learning can make the concept of zakat more relevant and understandable to students, especially in real-life situations. Data was collected through observations, tests, and interviews with students and teachers. The results indicated that the application of contextual learning improved students' ability to calculate zakat accurately, as well as their overall engagement and interest in the subject. Furthermore, students' understanding of the social and spiritual aspects of zakat was also enhanced. This study concludes that contextual learning is an effective method for teaching zakat in PAI, encouraging students to apply religious knowledge in everyday life. The research highlights the importance of adapting teaching methods to the needs and interests of students, making learning more meaningful and impactful.
