Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to enhance students' understanding of the meaning and wisdom of fasting through Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMPN 2 Candung. Fasting, as one of the central pillars of Islam, holds significant spiritual and moral value. This research focuses on improving students' comprehension and internalization of fasting's deeper significance, beyond the physical act, by incorporating various interactive and reflective teaching methods. The study was carried out in two cycles, each including planning, implementation, observation, and reflection phases. In the first cycle, students engaged in discussions, group activities, and self-reflection exercises to explore the philosophical and social benefits of fasting. In the second cycle, the intervention was enhanced based on the reflections from the first cycle, emphasizing active participation and real-life applications of fasting's principles. Data were collected through observations, student interviews, and assessments before and after the intervention. Results showed an improvement in students' understanding of fasting's values, including self-discipline, empathy, and community solidarity. This research highlights the importance of integrating moral education into PAI and demonstrates the effectiveness of interactive learning strategies in fostering a deeper understanding of Islamic teachings.
