Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to enhance students' understanding of the development of Islam in the archipelago (Islam Nusantara) in Islamic Education (PAI) at SMKN 1 Painan. The research focuses on applying interactive multimedia learning methods to improve students’ engagement and knowledge about the history and spread of Islam in Southeast Asia, particularly in Indonesia. The study was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle involving planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through classroom observations, student interviews, and surveys to assess the effectiveness of the multimedia-based learning approach. The results showed a significant improvement in students' understanding and interest in the subject. The use of multimedia tools, such as videos, interactive maps, and online discussions, helped make the historical development of Islam more engaging and easier to comprehend. Students became more actively involved in the learning process, and their ability to connect the historical context of Islam Nusantara with their daily lives improved. This research highlights the effectiveness of integrating multimedia learning methods in teaching complex historical topics in secondary school education, ensuring a deeper and more meaningful understanding of Islamic history in Indonesia.
