Abstract
This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to explore the effectiveness of Islamic Education (PAI) lessons in addressing and reducing the tendency of envy (dengki) among students at SMP Negeri 2 Tigo Nagari. Envy is a negative trait that can harm interpersonal relationships and hinder personal development. The research focuses on applying interactive and value-based teaching methods to raise awareness about the consequences of envy and promote positive character traits such as sincerity, gratitude, and contentment. The study is conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection involves student observations, interviews, and questionnaires to assess changes in attitude and behavior related to envy. The findings suggest a significant improvement in students’ awareness of the negative effects of envy, as well as an increase in their efforts to cultivate positive character traits. This research highlights the importance of incorporating character education into PAI lessons to foster emotional and moral development in students. By addressing the issue of envy, this study contributes to creating a more harmonious and respectful school environment.
