Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students' understanding and practice of Sunnah prayers, including Dhuha, Tahajud, and Witir, at SD Negeri 02 Palembayan Tangah. The study focuses on implementing a contextual learning approach, which connects the practice of Sunnah prayers to the students' daily lives. The research was conducted over two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection phases. Data were collected through observations, student performance assessments, and teacher reflections. The results showed that the contextual learning approach significantly enhanced students' ability to perform the Sunnah prayers correctly and consistently. By relating the benefits and relevance of these prayers to their everyday experiences, students became more motivated to engage in and perform these prayers regularly. This research highlights the effectiveness of incorporating contextual learning strategies in religious education, especially in teaching practices that are not mandatory but beneficial for spiritual development. The findings suggest that using a relatable and engaging approach can significantly improve students' religious practices in elementary schools
