Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students’ understanding and application of good manners (Adab) in school through an active learning approach at SMP Negeri 1 Tanjung Raya. The research focuses on enhancing students' awareness and practice of appropriate behavior in school, particularly in terms of respect, responsibility, and collaboration. The study involves a group of 30 students and is conducted in two cycles: the first cycle focuses on introducing the concept of Adab through discussions and role-playing, while the second cycle aims to reinforce these behaviors through collaborative group activities and peer feedback. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and student reflections. The findings suggest that the active learning approach significantly improved students’ understanding of school etiquette and their ability to apply these behaviors in daily school activities. Students reported feeling more confident and respectful in their interactions with peers and teachers. This research highlights the importance of fostering positive values and behaviors in school settings, as these contribute to creating a respectful and harmonious learning environment. The results of this study provide valuable insights for teachers seeking to implement character education programs that emphasize the importance of Adab in school life.
