Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to enhance students' understanding of Sunnah fasting in SDN 21 V Koto Kampung Dalam. The study utilizes a contextual teaching and learning (CTL) approach to make the material more relatable and engaging. The purpose of this research is to explore how the CTL approach can improve students' comprehension of the concept and practice of Sunnah fasting, as well as to encourage active participation. By applying real-life scenarios and experiences, students are expected to develop a deeper connection with the material. The research involves 17 students as participants, with data collected through observation, interviews, and student assessments. This CAR is structured in cycles, starting with planning, implementing the action, observing the students' responses, and reflecting on the results to refine the teaching approach. It is hoped that this research will contribute to more effective teaching strategies in Islamic studies, particularly for enhancing religious understanding in elementary schools. The findings are expected to provide insights into the use of the CTL approach in teaching religious subjects in a way that is both engaging and meaningful for young learners.
