Abstract

The Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning method focuses on the active
involvement of students in the learning process. This study explores the use
of the PBL method in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teaching. The
purpose of this study was to understand the definition, characteristics,
model syntax, and application in Islamic Religious Education (PAI)
learning. This research involved literature analysis. The results of this study
indicate that implementing the PBL method in Islamic Religious Education
(PAI) learning has significant benefits, including improving students'
understanding of religious concepts, promoting active student engagement
in learning, and developing their problem-solving skills. This includes
improving students' understanding of religious concepts, encouraging them
to actively participate in the learning process, and enhancing their problem
solving abilities. However, challenges are also associated with using this
method, such as complex material preparation, longer time efficiency, and
in-depth evaluation. Teachers design problems appropriate to the Islamic
context, facilitate group discussions, and guide students. In conclusion, the
application of the Problem-Based Learning and Project methods in Islamic
Religious Education learning can provide significant benefits in terms of
understanding religious concepts and developing students' problem-solving
skills.
