Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) focuses on improving students' understanding and discipline in performing congregational prayers (Shalat Berjamaah) through the application of a role-playing model at SDN 09 Kampung Parit, Kecamatan Bonjol, Kabupaten Pasaman. The study involved 20 fifth-grade students and aimed to enhance their engagement in religious practices by incorporating active participation and role-playing methods in the learning process. By acting out the steps of congregational prayer, students were able to experience the procedure in a more hands-on, interactive manner, which increased their interest and comprehension. This research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The findings indicated a significant improvement in students' discipline and understanding of the Shalat Berjamaah. The use of role-playing allowed students to better internalize the practices of communal prayer while promoting teamwork and cooperation. The results of this study suggest that role-playing can be an effective pedagogical tool in enhancing religious education in elementary schools. It also emphasizes the importance of engaging students in practical activities to foster deeper learning and spiritual growth.
