Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students' understanding of zakat and its wisdom through the implementation of a contextual learning model at SMPN 1 IV Koto Aur Malintang. The research is conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. In the first cycle, the teacher introduces the concept of zakat, its types, and the wisdom behind its practice. In the second cycle, the focus is on deeper engagement with the students, involving discussions about real-life applications of zakat in the community. The contextual learning model encourages students to relate the lessons on zakat to their own experiences, social environment, and current issues. The findings indicate that contextual learning significantly enhances students' comprehension of zakat, making them realize its importance in promoting social welfare, reducing inequality, and fostering a sense of community. This study highlights the effectiveness of contextual learning in teaching religious topics by providing students with meaningful, real-world connections to the content. The research suggests that this approach can be a valuable tool in fostering a deeper understanding of zakat and its impact on society.
