Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to explore the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model in enhancing students’ understanding of the importance of performing the obligatory prayers (Shalat) in Islamic teachings at SMPN 43 Sijunjung. The study seeks to address the challenges of student engagement and comprehension in learning about religious duties, specifically Shalat, by implementing an interactive and student-centered approach. The research employs a qualitative method, involving observation, interviews, and questionnaires to collect data on student participation and knowledge before and after the application of the Discovery Learning model. The results indicate that students showed improved understanding and a more positive attitude towards performing Shalat after engaging in the discovery-based activities.
