Abstract
This classroom action research was conducted to improve students’ understanding and skills in performing shalat jenazah through the use of the demonstration method at UPT SDN 35 Ambacang Kamba. The research was designed in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects were fifth-grade students who had shown limited comprehension and practice of the ritual before the intervention. Data were collected using observation sheets, field notes, and performance assessments. The demonstration method was chosen because it allows students to observe step-by-step procedures directly, followed by guided practice to strengthen both cognitive and psychomotor aspects. Findings from Cycle I indicated an increase in students’ attention and participation, although some students were still hesitant in performing the prayer movements. After reflection and improvement in Cycle II, students demonstrated better confidence, accuracy, and understanding of the sequence of shalat jenazah. The overall results showed significant improvement in both learning outcomes and attitudes, proving that the demonstration method is effective in teaching practical religious material. This research suggests that teachers can apply the demonstration method to other ritual practices to foster active learning and deeper comprehension
