Abstract
This classroom action research (CAR) was conducted at SDN 14 Ranah Batahan with the aim of improving students’ understanding of the stories of the prophets through the implementation of the collaborative learning method. The research was carried out in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 27 students of grade V. In the preliminary observation, it was found that students’ interest and comprehension in learning the stories of the prophets were still low due to the dominance of conventional lecture methods. To overcome this issue, collaborative learning was applied to create an interactive environment where students worked in groups to discuss, retell, and reflect on the values derived from the prophets’ stories. Data were collected using observation sheets, student performance assessments, and field notes, while analysis was conducted using descriptive comparative techniques. The findings showed a significant improvement in both cognitive and affective aspects of the students, marked by increased participation, deeper understanding, and stronger appreciation of moral values. This study concludes that collaborative learning is an effective strategy for enhancing the quality of Islamic education, especially in teaching narrative-based materials such as the stories of the prophets.
