Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students' understanding of Islamic Civilization History through the implementation of the cooperative learning model at SMAN 2 Lengayang. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The cooperative learning model encourages students to work collaboratively in small groups, which enhances their engagement and promotes deeper understanding of historical concepts. Data were collected using observation sheets, interviews, and quizzes to measure students’ involvement and understanding of Islamic civilization history. The results revealed significant improvement in students' comprehension of the subject matter as they actively participated in discussions, shared ideas, and solved problems together. Furthermore, the cooperative learning model fostered better critical thinking and collaboration skills among students. This study highlights the effectiveness of the cooperative learning model in making historical topics more engaging and accessible, while also improving students' ability to work in teams. The findings suggest that integrating cooperative learning strategies can significantly enhance the learning experience and outcomes in history education.
