Abstract

Pancasila Education in higher education aims to shape students' democratic character. However, dominant conventional methods like lectures fail to foster democratic attitudes due to low student engagement, hindering the internalization of values like tolerance and responsibility. The deep learning approach, emphasizing meaningful understanding and critical reflection, offers a solution. It aligns with Pancasila Education's need for critical dialogue on values. A key strategy is critical discussion of controversial issues, which trains argumentation, empathy, and deliberation skills. Although such a deep learning program has been implemented in the Pancasila course at PAI UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar, its effectiveness in enhancing democratic attitudes lacks systematic evaluation. This study aims to evaluate the program's implementation in improving PAI students' democratic attitudes. The evaluation covers input (planning), process (class discussion), and outcomes (attitudinal changes). Findings are expected to provide feedback for program improvement and contribute to scholarly innovation in Pancasila Education.
