Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve the ability of Group B children to memorize Hijaiyah letters through the implementation of the singing and rhythmic movement method at RA Ashshafa. The research was conducted in two cycles, involving stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The background of this study is the limited ability of children to recognize and remember Hijaiyah letters, which are essential for early Islamic education and preparation for reading the Qur’an. The singing and rhythmic movement method combines auditory and kinesthetic learning, allowing children to engage actively while associating sounds with physical actions. During the learning sessions, children sang songs containing Hijaiyah letters while performing simple hand and body movements related to each letter. The results showed a significant improvement in the children’s ability to recognize and memorize Hijaiyah letters. In the first cycle, only 53% of children met the learning criteria, while in the second cycle, this increased to 87%. Children became more enthusiastic, confident, and actively participated in every session. In conclusion, the singing and rhythmic movement method is an effective and enjoyable strategy to enhance children’s memorization of Hijaiyah letters and can be applied as part of Islamic early childhood education.
