Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve students’ understanding of the Islamic jurisprudence (Fikih) topic on Thaharah (purification) through the use of the demonstration method in Class IV of MIS Nurul Falah, Panyairan, Petir, Serang. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The participants were 20 fourth-grade students. Data were collected using observation sheets, student worksheets, and learning outcome tests. In the first cycle, only 55% of students achieved the minimum mastery criteria, indicating a lack of understanding in applying the concept of Thaharah. After refining the instructional approach by using real objects and involving students in hands-on practice, the second cycle showed a significant improvement, with 85% of students reaching the mastery level. The demonstration method proved effective in helping students understand abstract concepts through visual and practical experiences. Students became more engaged, actively participated in discussions, and showed better retention of the material. This research concludes that the demonstration method is a suitable strategy for enhancing students’ understanding in Fikih, particularly in topics that require procedural and practical knowledge such as Thaharah.
