Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve students' speaking skills by utilizing mini-podcast media in Bahasa Indonesia lessons. Conducted at MIN 3 Lampung Selatan with fifth-grade students, the research responds to the challenges observed in students' oral communication abilities, particularly in fluency, pronunciation, and confidence. The study was implemented in two cycles following the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Students were guided to create short podcast recordings featuring storytelling, simple reports, or role-play dialogues, which were then shared and evaluated in class. Data were collected through speaking performance tests, observations, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that students’ speaking skills significantly improved in terms of fluency, vocabulary usage, expression, and articulation. Furthermore, students demonstrated higher motivation and enthusiasm for speaking activities because the podcast projects provided a creative and fun platform for self-expression. The integration of mini-podcast media successfully bridged traditional speaking exercises with digital literacy, making learning more engaging and relevant to students' experiences. Based on the findings, it is recommended that podcast projects be incorporated regularly in Bahasa Indonesia learning to foster active speaking practice and digital competence among elementary school students.
