Abstract
This Classroom Action Research was conducted to improve students' learning
interest in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) through the application of Islamic
storytelling methods. The study was carried out in Class IV of SDN 014 Silikuan
Hulu, Kecamatan Ukui, Kabupaten Pelalawan, Riau. Low student engagement and
enthusiasm in learning PAI became the main problem observed in the initial
phase. The research was implemented in two cycles, each consisting of planning,
action, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected through observation
sheets, field notes, and student learning interest questionnaires. The results showed
a significant increase in students' interest in learning after the application of
Islamic storytelling. In the first cycle, student interest increased moderately, but in
the second cycle, it showed a high level of engagement and enthusiasm. The
stories about prophets, companions of the Prophet, and Islamic values made the
lessons more relatable and meaningful. In conclusion, the use of Islamic
storytelling methods effectively enhanced students’ interest in PAI and created a
more enjoyable learning environment. This method is recommended as an
alternative approach for teachers in developing moral and religious character in
elementary school students.
