Abstract
This study aims to explore the application of project-based learning to improve problem-solving skills in mathematics among fifth-grade students at MIS Atsarus Salafiyah Pamekasan Madura. Mathematics is often considered a challenging subject for students, and traditional teaching methods may not fully engage students or enhance their problem-solving abilities. This research adopts a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach to implement project-based learning, which encourages students to actively engage in real-world problem-solving tasks, collaborate with peers, and apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and assessments of students' work. The results indicate a significant improvement in students' problem-solving skills and increased interest in mathematics. Students were more motivated to participate in the learning process and showed greater enthusiasm in completing tasks. This study suggests that project-based learning can be an effective method for enhancing students' mathematical thinking and fostering a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. It also highlights the importance of innovative teaching strategies in creating a more engaging and interactive learning environment for students.
