Abstract
This classroom action research aims to improve the cognitive abilities of children through matching picture and letter activities in Group B of RA Perwanida. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The background of this research is based on the observation that many children still have difficulty recognizing and matching letters with related images, indicating a lack of optimal cognitive development. Matching picture and letter activities were chosen because they are fun, interactive, and aligned with the developmental needs of early childhood. Data collection was carried out through observation sheets, performance assessments, and documentation of student work. The results showed a significant improvement in children’s ability to identify, connect, and recall letters with corresponding pictures. In the second cycle, most children were able to complete tasks independently, showing better memory, focus, and logical thinking. The learning environment became more active and engaging, and children responded positively to the activities. This study concludes that matching picture and letter games are effective for enhancing cognitive development in early childhood education and should be integrated regularly into learning programs.
