Abstract
This classroom action research aims to improve students’ understanding of the concept of fasting (puasa) through the implementation of the Make A Match learning model in Class VIII of MTs. Miftahul Huda, Ngasem, Batealit, Jepara. The study was conducted over two learning cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Initial observations indicated that many students had difficulty understanding the rules, types, and purposes of fasting due to passive learning methods and lack of student engagement. The Make A Match model was chosen to encourage student activity and collaboration by using card-matching games that reinforce key concepts. Data collection techniques included observation, written tests, and student interviews. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ comprehension and participation. Students became more motivated, actively involved in discussions, and better able to remember and apply the material. By the end of the second cycle, the majority of students reached the minimum mastery criteria. The findings suggest that the Make A Match model is an effective and enjoyable way to enhance students’ understanding of Fikih, especially in topics that require memorization and conceptual clarity like fasting.
