Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve students’ sense of responsibility through the implementation of contextual learning strategies in the Akidah Akhlak subject for Grade XI students at MAS Al Hidayah Kedungbetik, Kesamben, Jombang. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The background of this study stems from the observation that many students demonstrated low levels of responsibility in both academic and personal behaviors. Contextual learning was chosen because it links learning materials to real-life situations, making them more meaningful and applicable. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, documentation, and attitude assessment rubrics. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ responsible behaviors, such as completing tasks on time, taking care of school property, and showing consistency in their commitments. Students became more active, reflective, and aware of the importance of responsibility as part of their character. The classroom atmosphere also became more positive and student-centered. This study concludes that contextual learning is an effective approach to strengthen students’ moral values, particularly in building responsibility through the Akidah Akhlak curriculum at the senior Islamic school level.
