Abstract
This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to enhance the problem-solving skills of fifth-grade students at MIS Ujong Kareung Sabang through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in Mathematics. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. This research focuses on how the PBL model can improve students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities by engaging them in real-world scenarios and promoting critical thinking. Data were collected through observations, pre- and post-tests, as well as student feedback. The results showed that the application of the PBL model significantly increased student participation, improved their problem-solving skills, and raised their test scores. Moreover, students reported greater enjoyment of the learning process and felt more confident in tackling mathematical problems. This study highlights the potential of Problem-Based Learning to make mathematics more engaging and meaningful for students, and suggests that it is an effective approach for enhancing mathematical understanding in elementary education.
