Abstract
This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to enhance the problem-solving skills of fifth-grade students in Mathematics at MIN 25 Aceh Besar through the implementation of the Jigsaw cooperative learning model. The study was conducted in two cycles, each comprising four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research focuses on how the Jigsaw model can improve students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities by fostering cooperative learning, in which students work in small groups to master different parts of a problem and then share their understanding with their peers. Data were collected through classroom observations, pre- and post-tests, as well as student feedback. The findings demonstrated a significant improvement in students’ problem-solving skills, reflected in increased participation during group discussions and higher test scores. Students also reported greater confidence in solving mathematical problems and expressed enjoyment in the collaborative learning environment. This research underscores the effectiveness of cooperative learning models, particularly Jigsaw, in developing problem-solving skills and encouraging student collaboration. The results suggest that the Jigsaw method can be a valuable strategy for enhancing mathematical understanding and promoting active learning in elementary education.
