Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to implement an active learning approach to improve the understanding of Islamic values among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 003 Pangkalan Kerinci. The research addresses the challenge of making Islamic Religious Education (PAI) more engaging and effective by encouraging active student participation throughout the learning process. To achieve this, various interactive strategies—such as group discussions, role-playing, and the use of multimedia resources—were employed to facilitate deeper comprehension and internalization of core Islamic values.

The study was conducted in two cycles, each comprising the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests, classroom observations, and interviews with students and teachers. The findings are expected to show that students not only improve in their knowledge and understanding of Islamic teachings but also exhibit greater enthusiasm and engagement in PAI lessons.

This research highlights the potential of active learning methods to enrich Islamic education in elementary schools, suggesting that interactive and student-centered strategies can make the learning of Islamic values more relevant, meaningful, and impactful for young learners.
