Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve the understanding of Fiqh concepts among fifth-grade students at MI Infarul Ghoy Ngampon through the application of the group discussion method. The study is grounded in the belief that active learning strategies, such as group discussions, can enhance student engagement, critical thinking, and comprehension of complex religious teachings.

The research was conducted in two cycles, each comprising the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, and written tests to assess students’ understanding of the Fiqh material presented. The findings demonstrated a significant improvement in students’ conceptual understanding, as well as their ability to discuss and apply Fiqh principles to real-life situations.

The group discussion method also fostered greater collaboration and peer interaction, resulting in a more dynamic and participatory classroom atmosphere. This study concludes that group discussions are an effective instructional strategy for enhancing Fiqh education, making it more accessible, engaging, and meaningful for students.
