Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students' understanding of Islamic Education (PAI) at UPT SMPN 1 Bayang through project-based learning. The research was prompted by the observation that students had difficulty relating theoretical PAI concepts to real-life situations. In the initial cycle, the teacher integrated project-based learning by engaging students in creating projects that reflected Islamic values in everyday life. This approach provided students with hands-on learning experiences, allowing them to actively apply their knowledge of Islamic teachings. The study was conducted in two cycles, each involving planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results showed significant improvement in students’ understanding of PAI, as demonstrated by their active participation in class discussions and the relevance of the projects they created. Additionally, the students' ability to connect religious principles to real-world situations was enhanced. The study concludes that project-based learning is an effective method to deepen students' understanding of Islamic Education at UPT SMPN 1 Bayang and could be applied to other subjects for more engaging and meaningful learning experiences.
