Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to enhance students' understanding of Al-Qur'an and Hadith at MIS Nurul Hikmah through the implementation of a thematic approach to learning. The research addresses challenges in improving students' engagement and comprehension of Islamic texts, specifically Al-Qur'an and Hadith, which often seem disconnected from their daily lives. By applying a thematic approach, which links key concepts in Al-Qur'an and Hadith to broader themes in students' lives, the study aims to make learning more relevant and engaging. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were gathered through classroom observations, interviews, and student assessments. The findings show that the thematic approach significantly improved students' motivation, participation, and understanding of the subject matter. Students demonstrated a better ability to relate the teachings of Al-Qur'an and Hadith to their daily actions and decisions. This research underscores the effectiveness of the thematic approach in fostering a deeper and more practical understanding of Islamic teachings. It offers valuable insights for educators seeking to improve the quality of religious education in elementary schools.
