Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to optimize the understanding of Islamic Education (PAI) material at SD Negeri 25 Tanjung Beringin by applying a project-based learning method. The research focuses on enhancing students' comprehension of PAI topics and fostering character development through active and engaging learning experiences. The study was conducted over two cycles, each involving planning, action, observation, and reflection phases. Data were collected through observations, student assessments, and teacher feedback. The results indicate a significant improvement in students' understanding of PAI material, with increased participation and enthusiasm in learning. The project-based approach allowed students to apply their learning in real-world contexts, leading to better retention and deeper understanding of Islamic values. Moreover, the method successfully promoted character-building skills, including responsibility, teamwork, and critical thinking. This study highlights the effectiveness of project-based learning in improving both academic performance and character education in elementary schools, specifically in the context of PAI at SD Negeri 25 Tanjung Beringin.
