Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students' understanding of IPAS (Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial) in class IV at MI Nurul Huda Minggirsari by implementing the cooperative learning model. The main issue identified was the students' passive involvement in the learning process and their difficulty in connecting scientific and social concepts to real-life situations. This research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The cooperative learning model was selected because it promotes active student engagement through group discussions, problem-solving tasks, and collaborative learning activities. Data were collected through observations, quizzes, and group assessments to measure improvements in students’ understanding of IPAS. The findings indicate a significant improvement in both students' participation and their ability to apply IPAS concepts to everyday life. Cooperative learning fosters peer interaction, encouraging students to share knowledge and problem-solving strategies, which enhances their learning experience. This research highlights the effectiveness of cooperative learning in promoting active learning and improving students' understanding in interdisciplinary subjects such as IPAS.
