Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to enhance students' understanding of Islamic History (SKI) at MTs Al Kautsar through an inquiry-based learning approach. The objective of this study is to explore how inquiry-based learning can improve students' critical thinking, engagement, and comprehension of Islamic History topics. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. During each cycle, students were encouraged to ask questions, investigate historical events, and engage in discussions to find answers and construct their knowledge. Data was collected through observations, interviews, and assessments of students’ participation and understanding. The findings indicate that the inquiry-based approach significantly enhanced students’ understanding of Islamic History by promoting active learning and deepening their engagement with the subject matter. This method also helped students develop essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. The study suggests that inquiry-based learning is an effective strategy for teaching Islamic History, as it not only increases students' knowledge but also fosters a more interactive and student-centered learning environment. It is recommended that MTs Al Kautsar continue to implement this approach to further enhance students' academic skills and interest in Islamic History.
